Founded in 1993, the West End Family Link Center (WEFLC) is a community-based nonprofit organization and one of the original members of the Family Resource Center Association, which has since expanded to include 34 member centers across Colorado.
WEFLC is based in Nucla, Colorado, and serves the frontier region of the West End of Montrose County, extending into San Miguel County. This rural area spans approximately 2,069 square miles and is both geographically and economically isolated from the eastern portions of the two counties. Basic services—such as hospitals, dental and medical specialists, shopping centers, entertainment venues, airports, and even DMV offices—are located 90 minutes to two hours away from our central office.
Our community has a population of around 1,900 residents, with 25% under the age of 18 and 20% over the age of 65. Approximately 60% of families rely on the comprehensive support and services WEFLC provides.
West End Family Link Center’s mission is to empower the people of the west end of Montrose and San Miguel Counties by providing low-to-no-cost supportive services. These services include: referrals; education toward self-management; evidence-based programs (parenting and nutrition classes); emergency assistance services, such as heating assistance and food bank; and other resources when available.
To build stronger, healthier families and individuals in the West End of Montrose and San Miguel counties.
